Solar Eclipse of 31 May 2003

Our third webcast in May 2003 provided live footage of the solar eclipse of the 31st. While in some locations (like Iceland, Greenland and the North of Scotland) this eclipse was annular, we only saw the later stages of the Moon moving between the Sun and Earth.

Because the eclipse was already well under way at sunrise, and due to high level of humidity in the atmosphere, we only managed to take pictures of the very end of the eclipse. The humidity made it possible to observe without using a filter. All images except the first were made through a 203mm f/6.6 Newton telescope with an Olympus C2040 digital camera.

Zonsverduistering van 31 Mei 2003

Voor onze derde live webcast van mei 2003 brachten we beelden van de zonsverduistering van zaterdag de 31e. Omdat de eclips al ver gevorderd was bij zonsopgang konden we enkel beelden maken van het einde van de eclips. Door de hoge vochtigheidsgraad konden we beelden maken zonder het gebruik van een filter. Alle beelden uitgezonderd het eerste werden gemaakt doorheen een 203mm f/6.6 Newton-telescoop met een Olympus C2040 digitale camera.
